Marshfield Range Announcements
We need chainsaws at the Marshfield Range Saturday February 14 and Sunday the 15th. If you can make it please call or email Bill Corcoran (417) 862-8618 wtc928f@smsu.edu. One last weekend of cutting and burning will get the firing lane opened to 100 yards.

Bill Baldwin and Gary Lindsay are ready to do the fencing and hang the gates. Tom Mastellar, the landowner reports that the gates are ready to be installed. Pat Worley and John Hannon are building a firing pad and shelter. Dale Hite showed up with his tractor and augur and drilled us a bunch of holes for large posts. Weather permitting, we can have a range ready to rock 'n roll in about 2 weekends of work.

On the downside, the locals seem to have taken our 2 big Osage orange posts that we were going to use for the gate. Oh well, there are other trees out there to use, and I'm sure the hedge will keep somebody warm next winter.

Stay tuned for further announcements on range membership and operation.

Camp Perry
Les Welch is getting ready to make the arrangements for the Osage Orange Sharpshooters Camp Perry Team. In particular, he needs to make the reservations for huts (sleeping accommodations). Les and I would like everyone to consider going. The matches are the first week in August. Small Arms Firing School begins Saturday July 31, and the Garand Match is on August 7 (Saturday). There are matches every day in between. Go to the CMP website for more information. Cost is $11 per night per person to stay in the huts. Each hut sleeps 4 people, and Les has to reserve the correct number of huts. Last year he got 2 huts for us; how about we make it 3 this year? If you want to go, contact Les at moreorles_66725@yahoo.com

Fun Shoot
Our next meeting is the Fun Shoot (Feb. 21) For those of you who have never attended, this is SUPPOSED to be a good time. It consists of a bunch of shooting games that nobody in their right mind would ever practice. It is the match director's chance to throw you curve balls simply to have a little fun. The weather in February is too unpredictable to schedule a regular match, so we try to do something where we can talk and laugh a little bit, get to know new members, and do a little bit of shooting too. Please bring a prize for the prize table. . We try to make this like a swap-meet where you can bring that one shooting-related thing that's been kicking around your basement for the last 10 years that you just can't seem to use…like the box of 16 gauge shotgun shells, a bullet swager, a can of bullet lube, some old powder for loading the elephant gun…whatever. Oh, and if you've got an International Harvester, all original including stock, M1 Garand, you can throw that in too (just kidding).

Since this February has been so cold and snowy, we'll plan on doing most of our shooting in the booths, both sitting and standing. We will shoot some .22 rifle, and if you don't have one, you can borrow one. Got a .17 HMR? Use it. We'll also shoot M1 Garand, and you can always borrow those at our club. If you have a deer rifle or other rifle you want to shoot, bring it along…we'll allow you to shoot anything in the center-fire category. There will be a rapid fire event, and we will have .30-06 and Carbine ammo for sale. The balloons we will shoot at will be bigger this year. And we will have a couple of hit-the-dollar-bill matches. Some of us go out to lunch at Fred's Fish House in Ash Grove, and all are welcome to join us

Reloading Supplies
Do you need surplus powder for reloading? I am getting together an order. IMR 4895 pulldown powder is $90 per 8 lb jug. WC 844 is $64 for 8lb (similar to H335), and WC 846 (similar to BL-C 2) is also $64. Please add $5 per jug to the prices above to account for shipping. For other powders, see www.gibrass.com, and let me know what you want.

See you soon. I can't wait to shoot.
