Notes for Schedule
(Some changes from January)

1. All activities except for the March 9 date are Saturdays.

2. The symbols '$$' indicate an entry fee will be charged and ammunition will be issued to all competitors.

3. All matches at the Dalton Range shoot the CMP Garand-Springfield-Military Bolt Rifle (G-S-M) 'B' course of fire (5 sighters and 50 rounds for record), except March 15, July 19, and August 16.

4. All matches at the Aim Rite range are 30 rd. matches, plus 5 sighters. The Aim Rite matches are not registered with the CMP. Please note that the time varies somewhat on these dates, and one of them is a Sunday. Entry fee will be $5.

5. The JCG matches in May and October may fill to capacity. Pre-registration is advised (see web page for form). All other matches are same-day registration.

6. The activities on March 8 are classroom activities only.
7. Ammunition available at cost to all members for personal use at the matches. GI .30-06 ($0.25 per round), .22 Aguila Super Extra ($2.00/50; $17/500). A limited supply of .223 Black Hills/68gr. Hornaday ($0.35 per round) is also available.

8. Juniors (aged 19 or under) may shoot for free, including ammunition.

Yikes!!!
The shooting season is here. Now!
Please look at the revised schedule. We have added 3 matches at the Aim Rite range in reponse to member requests made at the dinner meeting in January. These matches will be 30 round matches using the usually Garand-Springfield-Military rifle rules of the CMP, but they are not registered with the CMP. Shooters wishing to shoot the AR-15 or other accurate rifles will use the standard NRA reduced-course targets (SR-21 and MR-31) for the prone stages. Cash awards will be given in the two classes (G-S-M and NRA) to the winners ($10) and $5 each to every 5th person aftward (6th, 11th, 16th etc). Finally, because we have to pay for the range, we will charge a $5 entry fee to shoot.

Work Day
We're going to need to rebuild the target frames at the Aim Rite Range. Leroy, the range owner, has lumber. Bring a saw, screw gun, screws, hammer and roofing nails and be there Saturday, March 1.

Aim Rite Range Directions
Get to Hwy 96 west of Springfield (either take Chestnut to Halltown or take I-44 to the Hwy 96 exit at Halltown). Go west on 96 approximately 8 miles to Lawrence County road 1155. This is the road immediately on the east side of the very large petroleum storage facility (tank farm) about a mile or two east of the junction with Hwy 39. Go north on 1155 approximately 2.5 miles to the sign for the Aim Rite Range. The shooting range is on the back side of the property, down a steep hill.

Picnic!
Another new thing for us to the picnic scheduled after the match on June 28. Please mark that date on your calendar and plan to attend. The land at the Aim Rite range is a little steep, and I'm sure the ticks will be out by then, but we'll have some fun. Members may bring out any firearm they want and shoot to their heart's content that day.

Fun Shoot
The annual "fun shoot" is coming up. For the past couple of years this has been more like the refrigerator shoot. Most members have stayed home when it snowed or got cold for this match, and you have missed a (fairly) fun time. For the fun shoot you may shoot any firearm you wish including .22 rimfire or .17 rimfire. We will limit it to iron sights, though-no scopes. In the past we have done things like try to hit a dollar bill from the standing position, or hit a dollar bill hidden behind the corner of the target face. Maybe I can think of some other games this year (and maybe not). Plan on shooting maybe 30 or 40 rounds, maximum. There will be no rapid fire, but there may be some timed fire such as 3 shots within 30 seconds. I believe last year I handed out something like $240 in prize money, so it is worth your while to show up.

Other Matches
Remember, the Missouri Regional is May 3-4 and the Highpower Championship is June 7-8, both at the Bucksnort Shooting Club near Sedalia and Marshall. Both of these matches include a team match, and there is no better way to experience full-course shooting. BE SURE TO ATTEND. Pre-registration is required, and as the time draws closer, I will keep you informed on registration procedures. Also, remember that Joplin holds a highpower match on the 3rd Sunday of each month, March-October-time is 9am, be there by 8:30.

Achievement Medal Scores
The CMP has released this year's cutoff scores for achievement medals. For the first time they have provided values for the 50 shot matches that we usually shoot. In past years I have simply taken the percentages from the 30 shot matches and applied them to the 50 shot matches myself. I am gratified to find out that the CMP's calculations are very similar to the ones that I made, so I haven't been depriving you shooters of medals you might have won otherwise. Below is the table of things the CMP has on their web site:
